The focus of the match has to be Real's new coach: Juande Ramos. The former Tottenham manager, who was sacked recently, returned to Spain with his reputation still intact, as Real look to him to save their title challenge this season.
Real is in unfamiliar territory: they are struggling in the 5th position in the La Liga, while Barca is starting to find their feet, with Messi, Henry and Eto in scoring form. But all these obvious advantages may just be the banana skin that plotted Real's victory in this game.
El Clasico, as in many other derby matches and bitter rival match-up, is an unpredictable match where form cannot be rely upon. In fact, for Real, this is a golden opportunity to turn around their disappointing season. With all their talents around, and Raul record-breaking form, Real will not be the underdogs for this tie. And with Juande Ramos at helm, the Real players will be trying even harder to impress their new boss.
As Juande Ramos said, Real have nothing to fear. If Real, with the hosts of talent they have, need to fear Barca, then the rest of the league might as well give the title to Barca. Bernd Schuster's negative statement is of no logic, and really irked the President and fans. Bernd practically talks himself out of the job, as not long ago, Real president had given him a vote of confidence.
This game may well be determined by the brilliance of the top stars of either side, be it Messi, Henry and Eto for Barca, or Raul, Gago and Sneijder.

Gunners will only aim at the Big Guns
They went into the weekend, brimming with confidence in the back of a victory against defending champion, Manchester United, but they left the weekend shattered as again, they are beaten by teams outside "The Big Four". This time, it's Aston Villa, the new "Big Four" hopefuls.
And when Arsene Wenger admitted that his team deserved to be beaten, we can tell that in this particular game, Villa really battered them, as Wenger rarely admitted his that it is his team own-doing when they are defeated.
So what is wrong with Arsenal this season? Can they win the league? As of now, they are still in it, but if you really look through their team sheet, you have doubt that they stand any chance to win the league at all. But credits must be given to them for the brand of football they play. They remain one of the most exciting teams to watch, and their free flowing passing, coupled with the young lads' great techniques, often take the breath of the fans away.
But as far as the league concern, playing beautiful football wouldn't be awarded extra points, therefore winning as many games as possible is still the only way forward. And they are unable to do so when they play teams outside the Big Four. Why?
Because, when they are playing the lesser team, their opponent is not trying to let them play their free flow football, as they know this could hurt their chances of drawing or even winning. So they do everything to break their rhythm, and at the same time, had a go at them.
As for the Big Four teams, the mentality is different. They are not inferior to Arsenal, therefore, they are not all out to break their rhythm, but instead imposed their own rhythm on Arsenal. So there is a better chance that Arsenal, at certain period of the game might be able to play to their strength.
Besides the mentality, surely there is something wrong with Arsenal, as they lose games to lesser teams. Arsenal lacked depth in squad and lacked leadership on the field. Their midfield is featherweight, and can be easily overrun by the opponents. They lacked midfielders that can win the ball back, the tough tackling type like Patrick Vieira when they lose possessions. And unless they really do something about it during the January transfer window, they will just end up with nothing again this season, and may even lost their Big Four status.

Manager of the moment: Harry "Redknapp" Potter
Although it is quite common that when a new manager takes over at a new club, the team just turn around their form and start winning. But if that turn around in form include beating the current league leader Liverpool, then this feat is not so common anymore, especially in the Barclays Premier League where we have "the big four" and the rest of the league.
But this is what Harry Redknapp did, weaving his magic for his Spurs to beat Liverpool from a goal behind, and knocking them off the top. Despite winning 2 games and drew once (great results when you consider beating Liverpool and drawing Arsenal), they are still bottom of the table. This just showed how deep shit they are in before Harry steps in.
But based on their current performance and form, there will be no doubt that they will be out of the relegation zone soon. In the game against Arsenal, they showed so much resolved that they scored 2 goals in the final 2 minutes of the normal time, forcing a draw out of their London rival.
Another positive sign is that Harry made one of the new signing to score. Roman Pavlyuchenko, who scored the last minute winner against Liverpool, will surely have his confidence boosted after scoring such a vital goal in a big game. This will lead to more goals to come from the Russian as the season progress.
Spurs do have a talented team, and with Harry now in the helm, they will be forcing their way up the table, but breaking into "the big four" seems a bit out of reach this season. They can hope for a better start next season though.

Argentina counting on "The Hand of God"
I was a little surprise when I heard from the news that Diego "the hand of God" Maradona is going to become Argentina's national team coach. Though Maradona is one of the best player of all time, credential wise, I certainly do not see him as a worthy coach. Certainly, for a big footballing nation like Argentina, there are some other candidates with better credential. But I can see where this appointment comes in.
Argentina, despite boasting some of the best talents in the world in recent years, had failed to win any significant honours, with only the Olympic Football Gold Medal to show. In the past two edition of the World Cup, they didn't progress to the latter stages of the competition, and were even knocked out in the 1st round in Korea-Japan 2002. In Copa America, they again failed to win the competition, losing to a understrength, junior Brazil team in the final.
Something is not right, something is amiss that stopped them from winning honors, despite having a team filled with talents. Perhaps, that something, they now reckoned, is inspiration and the "magic touch". And Maradona certainly fit this criteria. He is the inspiration, and almost single-handedly lead Argentina to World Cup victory, with his "hand of god" knocked England off the competition they eventually win.
Now, their Football Association is hoping that Maradona can reproduced this midas touch, inspiring and leading the national team to the top of the world again. The effect already can be seen. Key players, and also the whole nation is feeling excited about Maradona being the national team coach. If he can emulate the great Franz Beckenbaur's achievements, he can certainly have his name sealed in the history of football, and had all his negative issue swept aside.

Welcome to the fashion capital, David!
Before David Beckham decided to move to the USA, I was so convinced that Milan will be his next destination to continue his football, being a fashion capital that will surely match his celebrity status. But I guess, the language barrier and the attraction of being an icon in the USA changed his mind.
He has surely make his mark in the MLS, and more specifically, LA Galaxy, though not fully on the field. Today, most football fans will know there is a team called LA Galaxy, and we can see people wearing a LA Galaxy jersey, though the only player in the team that they know is David Beckham.
Now, Beckham is joining AC Milan for a short-term loan to keep himself fit for the national team. Well, if he can suit to the Milan play, he should just join Milan permanently, as Carlo Ancelotti, the Milan coach, had publicly declared that he would like to sign him permanently.
His job in LA Galaxy, and MLS is done. He had increase the profile of his team, and the league to a certain extent. He bucked the trend by joining MLS at 31, and not at the end of the career (35-36?). So what more he can contribute to the LA Galaxy or MLS? The most is to keep the ticket sales, and keep on to be an icon in the MLS. LA Galaxy will not rise to become the champions because of one Beckham, as football, unlike some other sports, is a team game, and one superstar wouldn't win a team the championship.
So is now the time for him to leave LA Galaxy? Certainly, if he is to continue playing for England, and ready to take on the challenge of fighting for a place in a midfield full of talents. Certainly displacing the likes of Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Flamini and Emerson will not be an easy task, and he risk sitting on the bench for the rest of his career. But for a 3-month loan, certainly there will be no risk, and Milan will welcome him with an open arms, as they continue their fight to the top of the Serie A.
And for all football fans, once again we might get to see his trademark free kick during the match, and not from the news.

Can the Best League in the World win the 2010 World Cup?
Surely now when I say the best league in the world, most people will straightaway refer to none other than the Barclays Premier League (or more widely known as English Premier League). Yes, the English League. They have come a long way from European minnows (among the major football league) to ultimate conqueror of Europe's Premier Club Competition- UEFA Champions League. Last season's all English final is the ultimate evidence to cast away any doubts or doubters that- Barclays Premier League is the best league in the world right now!
To add the icing on the cake, Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo was named UEFA's European Club Footballer of the Year, and also the Forward of the Year, while John Terry, Frank Lampard and Peter Cech made up the BPL dominations in the Defender, Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Year. So, now the question is, can the best league in the world win the World Cup 2010 in South Africa?
The implication of being the best league, is the foreign influx of players. Now, players-and also investors all around the world set their sight on coming to BPL. While more big money investors in the BPL will certainly raise the standard of the league further, the group of talented English footballers for the national team has certainly become an issue.
While Theo Walcott- the lastest young prodigy to set the world alight- hattrick may have cover up the national team's attacking prowess, but any right-minded can sensed a lack of talent when the squad include Emile Heskey, who is way passed his best years.
Besides, the goalkeeping department doesn't look good as well with Paul Robinson (who is not playing at his best) sitting on the bench, while David James (not the most steady of hands) started the game.
So now we know the problem, but what is the solution, or where is the potential talents that may be able to replace them. The bigger problem is, there are none, or they are not given the chance to show them. Why?Because in the best league in the world, the players must also be the best around. So no time for nurturing! One of the example is Glen Johnson, who moved to Portsmouth from Chelsea to play first team football. Who can blame Chelsea for not giving him more chance to play, when they have other complete-article players at their disposal?
The trend now and here-to-stay is there will be more players from outside the big four to join the England squad, and these teams actually provide the only hope for Capello if he is to steer England to glory. And if the Big Four expand to Big Five, then there will be a team less to produce talents for England, as they will be too busy buying the best players in the world to the best league in the world!
And in another 1 year plus, we will see whether the best league in the world can win the World Cup!

Dramatic end to transfer window!
I was stunned when I checked out soccernet for the last minute transfer deals before the transfer window close. Robinho leaves Real, and surprise surprise, not to Chelsea, but to Manchester City! WTF?! Manchester City? I thought Thaksin is having all kinds of trouble, and Bangkok in emergency rule partly because of him, yet he can outwits the mighty Russian owned Chelsea in transfer market?! Incredible!
The 32.5 million is definitely higher than the Chelsea's reportedly offer of 28 million. Even if Real accepted the offer, why the hell Robinho will want to play in the UEFA Cup? Manchester City offer more (in terms of transfer fee) for Ronaldinho as well, yet Ronaldinho rejected them. What is he thinking?
I finally understand when I read that Thaksin is selling his stakes to Abu Dhabi United Group. With all these Arab money, City not only can afford the transfer fee, but also huge weekly salary that should be tempting to a young lad. Besides Robinho, City also bought in quite a number of reinforcement during this transfer window. They are Gláuber Berti from FC Nuremburg, Pablo Zabaleta from Espanyol, Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea, Vincent Kompany from Hamburg SV, and Tal Ben Haim from Chelsea.
Though some of the signings are still unknown quantity, Manchester City should be a team to watch this season.
Tottenham also had a busy last day, with Dimitar Berbatov leaving to Manchester United for 30.75 million, while Roman Pavlyuchenko and Vedran Corluka join from Spartak Moscow and Manchester City respectively. These deals certainly solved the attacking options for both Spurs and Man Utd, as both will now have 3 strikers to sustain the whole season. Spurs won a psychological battle against Man Utd in the transfer market by not compromising the transfer fee, and also successfully completed two deals of their own in time to finally put the transfer saga behind. This is really a win-win situation where both teams get reinforcement, while Berbatov's wish to play for Manchester United is granted.
And we will be seeing the last of the tireless Andriy Voronin, who was loaned to Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga

The transfer dispute of 2008/2009 season
With the transfer window closing today, there has been many switches of players between clubs, league involving all kinds if nationalities for the past 2-3 months. Though there are many big names transfer that are already completed, some transfers are still in dispute or ended after months of speculating. And the most notable one are the 3 cases stated below:
Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United has shown their authority over player power as they successfully keep CR, even though CR had expressed his desire to move to Real Madrid, and even suggested that he is made a slave. This remark seriously infuriated a number of people (including me), as this remark is seriously crazy and offending. If a 100k per week bloke is a slave, then what do you call those on a few k per month? It was your decision to extend your contract with MU, and you will have to be responsible for it. If you really so desperate to leave for "the club you supported since kid", then don't extend your contract, and leave on free when your contract expire.
Dimitar Berbatov
Berbatov has been a hit with the Spurs fan, as he score goals for fun in the past few season for Spurs. But now, as he had expressed his wish to joined MU, the Spurs chairman to let him rotted in the reserve instead of selling him to MU for a lower price. In this case, no one is at fault, really.
Berbatov wants to play in Champions League, that's why he choose to leave. But when his wish is not granted due to different valuation of him by MU and Spurs, his morale and performance drop, and affected the spirit of the team.
Spurs is selling their best player to a BPL rival, so surely they will sell at a premium. Besides, they will be more than happy to keep Berbatov if MU can't match their price.
MU is unwilling to match the selling price set by Spurs, so they are unwilling to proceed.
If a deal cannot be completed before the transfer window close, hopefully Berbatov will leave the saga behind, and focus on helping Spurs to achieve greater success. Berbatov, at his best is a joy to watch, and also, prove a point to MU that he is worth every penny of the 30 million they are unwilling to pay.
Gareth Barry
Barry has shown that he is truly professional player. During the long transfer saga (which just ended with him staying put at Villa), he proved that he is not affected, and continue to perform at his best for Villa. His performance during the 1st BPL game is impressive, and if he can keep on playing at his best, his wish to move to Liverpool will still happened when they have the money and make him their 1st priority.
Cristiano Ronaldo

Soccernet title: Blues flop Shevchenko moves back to Milan
Is this a track record of a flop? You rate it yourself! But to me, the record is respectable, considering the injuries and the sudden change of style of football. People maybe saying that for 30 millions, Chelsea deserve better reward, but as in any investment, there is always risk that things may not go as planned, and this is one of the case. I do admit that at times, when he was given the chance to prove himself, he did not take it as well as he is capable. His performance is slightly worse than Hernan Crespo (which is also considered a flop, but if anyone just look at his record, I believe he is such a superb striker!)
And I believe, no one will disagree that Sheva is a top professional, never complained to the media during this tough period in Chelsea. He works his socks up, and fight for a place in the Chelsea squad. In the Champions League semi final last season when he comes on as a substitute, he made a on the line clearance to ensure Chelsea made it to the final. That moment just showed how good a professional he is, and he is a roll model to the footballers around, who is getting arrogant and acted unprofessionally.
2006/2007: 13 goals in total
4 in the League, 3 in FA Cup, 3 in League Cup, 3 in Europe
Appearances:
30 in the league, 22 starts, 8 as sub
6 in FA Cup, 5 starts, 1 as sub
4 in League Cup, 4 starts
10 in Europe, 9 starts, 1 as sub
- Significant strike at White Hart Lane in an FA Cup replay.
- Hernia operation in the closing weeks of the 2006/07 season ruled him out of the FA Cup Final win at Wembley.
- Carling Cup winner, having played all Carling Cup matches except for the closing seconds of a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the final at Cardiff.
2007/2008: 8 goals, 5 in the league, 2 in League Cup, 1 in Europe
Appearances:
17 in the league, 8 starts, 9 as sub
1 in FA Cup, 0 starts, 1 as sub
2 in League Cup, 2 starts
5 in Europe, 2 starts, 3 as subs
- fitness problems keep him out of competitive action until mid-September 2007.
- in his second game back he scored the final goal of the José Mourinho era, in a home Champions League draw to Rosenborg.
- there followed by an outstanding strike in the Carling Cup against Leicester
- leading up to Christmas, he scored six important goals in ten appearances with Didier Drogba out injured
- back-related problems called a seven-week halt.
- never start a game in 2008
- made seven sub appearances and scored the final league goal of last season

Why Gareth Barry should not go to Liverpool
Recently Aston Villa's coach said that he had not hear from Liverpool for the transfer of Gareth Barry for some time. It seems like Liverpool has now cool down interest of Barry, or there has been rumour that Benitez must sell to fund this transfer. Now it seems likely that Barry is staying after all, but it has always being my view that Barry should not leave Villa.
1) England captaincy: Recently, Barry has been made captain of England. Though he is not likely to win the race, but if he leave for Liverpool, he had totally no hope of getting the captaincy, as Gerrard will surely be the captain for Liverpool. If Barry stays in Villa, he may still get the chance to captain England occasionally, or when the 1st few choices of England captain unavailable.
2) Risks of being a non-starter. At Villa, Barry is definitely the 1st few names in the starting lineup. But at Liverpool, he risks being a bit part player, and jeopardize his England career just when his England career just started.
3) Liverpool unwilling to pay the amount, despite Barry confronting Villa manager and force for a move: Well, some may say the price is too high. Yes, I agree Barry is not worth 18m, but it's not Villa's fault, instead, English footballers are simply over valued. If Crouch is worth 11m (as paid by Portsmouth), then relatively Barry is worth 18m, no doubt!
4) Liverpool's handling of the transfer saga: Liverpool should not stop negotiation and waste Villa's time, while they announced new signings one after another. This shows that Liverpool is not too eager to sign him after all. If you can't afford it, then just say no to Villa. It's not as if Villa is unwilling to sell, like the case of Cristiano Ronaldo. But if you want to buy your rival's player, surely you'll have to pay more! Have you not heard of the story of Berbatov?

Italy scrap through the Group of Death
Italy qualified to the quarter-finals of the Euro 2008 after beating France 2-0. This victory signified the return of luck to the team after some ill-fated decisions against them in earlier games, or maybe it's just that France is more unlucky.
France lost Frank Ribery through injury, and had Eric Abidal sent off in the first 30 minutes of the game. Eric Abidal replace captain Lilian Thuram in the center of defense, who are being criticised after the Dutch game. Veteran Thuram and Willy Sagnol are both out of the starting lineup. But Abidal made a mess of the game when he conceded the penalty and got himself sent off for being the last man. To be frank, Abidal should not be solely responsible, as I feel keeper Coupet could have come forward to clear up the mess.
The resulting penalty, converted by Pirlo is touch of class for the midfield maestro. Pirlo is having one of his best performance for Italy, and his contribution to the team can clearly match those in the run to World Cup 2006. In fact, he is now the key man for Italy, creating chances and making visionary passes to his teammates. I would certainly agree with Italian press, who named him as the player of the match instead of the officially named Daniele de Rossi. De Rossi performance is good, showing his brilliance a move which he moved past a few French defenders, but his overall contributions, to me, is far less than Pirlo, even though Pirlo was substituted early 2nd half.
With Luca Toni still firing blanks and looked increasingly frustrated, coupled with Pirlo suspension against Spain, the Azzurri's challenge don't look promising as they face the in-form Spain in the Quarterfinals.
Italy coach Roberto Donadoni said that despite the outside pressures after two successive poor results, a 3-0 defeat by the Dutch and a 1-1 draw with Romania, there had always been inner belief in the squad.

Scolari turned Blues
Luis Felipe Scolari is the man to lead Chelsea next season! The current Portugal coach has been instrumental in turning Portugal into a force to be reckoned in world football, and now he is turning to club football for challenge.
With him being announced as Chelsea's new manager, there are speculations linking him to Kaka, with their Brazilian connection and Chelsea's seems-unlimited source of money. Milan's technical director, Leonardo, the man behind Kaka's arrival in Milan, has said Kaka will not change team, and will be in Milan until his career end. While Milan do have the attraction of keeping players, with most of his players being at the team for years, and decades, Chelsea's assault on Kaka cannot be taken lightly.
As for Scolari, he is one coach that have the winning touch and the tactical wits. Not many people know he is the coach that lead Brazil to the 2002 World Cup Winner title, as most people have take it for granted that with Brazil's pool of talents, whoever coach the team can win. But this myth has faded with Brazil early exit in quater-finals to the unfancied France. As for Portugal, Scolari has turn them into real force, storming to the semi-final before being ousted also by the French. In Euro 2004, he lead Portugal to the final, before being defeated by another unfancy team, Greece.
He is a real character and cunning in his tactical approach. With his inclusion to the Barclays Premier League next season, there will surely be more out of the world comments between the top coaches.

1st match day of Euro 2008
Well, for day 1 of Euro 2008, I watched both matches, for I feel obliged to watched them as a symbol of the beginning. Well, the 1st match between the host nation Switzerland and Czech Republic wasn't much of a spectacle. Czech beat the Swiss 1-0.
Though I wasn't expecting much from the host, as they are known to play the cagey way without much flair, I was disappointed with the Czech. I feel bad for the host for this defeat, as I feel that the host played well, and may well win the game if not for the luck to be on the Czechs' side, plus a towering goalkeeper named Cech.
As for the Portugal match, which they won 2-0 against Turkey, Portugal was the dominant side, dictating the play and give no chance to Turkey to threaten their goal. Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't shown his best, instead Pepe steal the limelight from him, scoring the opener after his goal was disallowed.
Euro is definitely one competition to make your name in one of the biggest stage in world football. And from the early stages of the competition, seems like there will be more stars in the making.

Azzurris on the move
Italy have a number of players in their Euro squad who are in the process of moving clubs. This has prompted coach Roberto Donadoni to said that he wanted transfer talk to be kept to a minimum as his side prepare for their first Group C match against Netherlands in Berne on Monday.
Italy's 2nd choice keeper Marco Amelia has left relegated Livorno and agreed a four-year contract with Palermo. Meanwhile, Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli has reportedly agreed a transfer to Germany's VfL Wolfsburg.
Full back Gianluca Zambrotta clinched a move from Barcelona to Milan days before the Italy squad flew out to their base south of Vienna. Genoa striker Marco Borriello is returning to co-owners AC Milan, with the deal due to be made official after the end of the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
Italy's 2nd choice keeper Marco Amelia has left relegated Livorno and agreed a four-year contract with Palermo. Meanwhile, Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli has reportedly agreed a transfer to Germany's VfL Wolfsburg.

The Special One Landed in Milan
Jose Mourinho is back in management! The self-claimed Special One landed in Milan to take the Internazionale job after signing a three-year contract with Inter. Mourinho will replace Roberto Mancini, who may go the other way round to Chelsea to replace Avram Grant.
There has been talks for quite some time that Jose Mourinho will replace Mancini at Inter, who despite winning 3 straight Scudetto, failed to shine in European Champions League, and when city rival AC Milan won the Champions League last season, it has become bitter to swallow for the Inter chairman and board.
Mourinho's pedigree in Champions League has been impressive, despite his only win came when he is at Porto. In his time with Chelsea, they have reach the latter stages of the competition. Mourinho's arrival may also spurred the transfer market, and attract more stars to the Serie A.
On the other hand, if Roberto Mancini is appointed as Chelsea's coach, Italy should be proud that their coaches have been in well demand. Chelsea is also reported to be chasing Milan's Carlo Ancelotti. This is a sign that the World's Best Football League is recognising the ability of the Italian coaches, who they once deemed to boring!

All English Final: Man U is the lucky one!
There has been so many coverage on "The Special One" tag ever since Jose Mourinho made it famous! So when Avram Grant said he would like the tag if he won the Champions League, something that not even "The Special One" can do, I think he fully deserved it.
And I thought he was within minutes of getting the tag when Cristiano Ronaldo missed his penalty, while every other Chelsea players converted their penalty kick.
But lady luck is just not Chelsea's side when skipper John Terry slipped and missed his penalty. It was the turning moment, and when Nicolas Anelka stepped up to take his, his expression certainly does not looked good, and it reminds me of the expression of Geremi when he missed his penalty during the shoot-out with Liverpool in last season's Champions League semi-final.
Though Chelsea failed to win anything this season, and this certainly wouldn't pleased their Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, overall, I have to say it has been a good season for Chelsea, but unfortunately luck is not on their side.
But I believe Champions League is a very fair competition. When there are surprised defeat happened, the loser will eventually win the cup in the later edition, for example Bayern's 2001 win after the shock defeat to Man U in 1999, or AC Milan's 2007 win after the ghost of Istanbul in 2005!
What Chelsea need now is to keep Peter Cech and the core of the team, and with a few addition, they are certainly capable of upstaging Man U next time around. But for now, let us hail the new European Champions - Man Utd!

The Win-Everything Brazillians Leave Clubs
So here comes the "end of the season" period, where league football take a 2-3 months break. Though there is still the Champions League and some other Cups to play for, many teams are already announcing the new signings and departure from their respective team.
Among the most sensational way to announce departure is Barcelona's Ronaldinho. Not that he himself announced he wants to leave, but instead it's Barca's president who said "he needs to leave"! Joan Laporta reckoned that Ronaldinho must leave to be the player he once was again.
"He (Ronaldinho) needs a new challenge. When a cycle finishes it is normal that the most emblematic pieces also come to an end. I would like Ronaldinho to be given a great send-off so that he is remembered for all he has given us and that if he didn't do any more it was because the circumstances wouldn't allow it".
Barcelona won the La Liga and Champions League with Ronaldinho in top form, while Ronaldinho himself also won the World Player of the Year Award! Ronaldinho is linked to a move to AC Milan.
In Milan, 2 more Brazilians will leave AC Milan. World Cup winner Cafu, at the age of 37, will return to Brazil. In his 5 seasons with Milan, he win every trophy possible at club level. Prior to joining Milan, he play for AS Roma and won the Scudetto with them.
Mean while, Serginho who joined the club back in 1999, has also decided to return home. Though not a regular at Milan, he is one influential player. His contribution to Milan's 2003 Champions League win is enormous, combining superbly with Superpippo to drive Milan to the final, and eventual win.
So let's wish both Cafu and Serginho all the best in life after football, and let's hope we can still see the best of Ronaldinho, hopefully in a Rossoneri shirt!

Milan playing UEFA Cup next season?! Inter champions again!
Just now when I check out soccernet for the football result, the headlines is "Gerrard: We must spend big". But if you ask me, this "We must spend big" word is more suited to AC Milan, who despite winning 4-1 against Udinese in the last game, fail to clinch 4th place, and will play in the UEFA Cup next season.
Milan in the UEFA Cup?! That's disappointing by Milan's standard! And the last time they don't play Champions League football is 6 years ago! But surely, we have seen this coming, and so is the coach. It's just that the board think that by being AC Milan, they will have a long run in the Champions League, and finish 4th to qualify for the next one! But that does not always happened, not everyday is a Sunday!
By looking at their activity in transfer market, you really questioned their ambition! They certainly don't look capable of challenging Inter for the Scudetto this season with this squad. Though the evergreen Inzaghi keep scoring, he is 34 now and is susceptible to injury, not to mentioned the ever injured Ronaldo. Gilardino's form has been bad, but then Milan's failure can only be blamed on the board! By having Alexander Pato as the only player they are buying, and that also came at after winter break is frustrating!
Milan board owe the fans a big star striker! Milan had failed to replace Shevchenko, and had put Kaka with so much burden that affect his performance. So going forward, "Milan must spend Big!". Buy someone who can score to replace the ageing Inzaghi, and keep the squad. The squad is definitely not weak, just the attacking department, particularly the forward department is weak and do not have enough capable cover! Pato is very talented, but yet he is still a young lad and is one for the future.
On Inter winning the championship again, and Alessandro Del Piero winning the Golden Boot, I can only say "Congrats and well done! You guys deserved it! And so is Milan's participation in UEFA Cup next season!"

FC Zenit St Petersburg
Frankly speaking, I never heard of this name before they beat Bayern Munich. But when this team won the UEFA Cup final tie against Glasgow Rangers last night, it just put itself into map of the illustrious list of winners of UEFA Cup, though these days it play second fiddle to the UEFA Champions League.
Juventus, Liverpool, Inter and last year's champion Seville are some of the most notable names in Europe's club football competition, and with this win in City of Manchester Stadium, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg deserved some coverage the 2007/2008 UEFA Cup Champion.
Zenit St Petersburg is a Russian football club from Saint Petersburg founded in 1925. The club plays in the Russian Premier League and currently is the richest in the country, with Gazprom (the largest Russian company according to Wiki) as their sponsor. Zenit are the champions of the 2007 Russian Premier League, 2008 Russian Super Cup and now the 2007/2008 UEFA Cup.

Flamini move to Milan!
When I first heard of Mathieu Flamini, I thought he is an Italian player because of the "Flamini", which is quite Italian to me. And how ironic, today he is leaving for Italy, though he is French.
Flamini's move is also a good sign for the Serie A. Admit it or not, in recent years players prefer the Barclays Premier League over the Serie A, due to the "Calciopoli" and violence of the fans in Serie A.
And Flamini is one of the few players who choose Italy over England. Arsenal reportedly offer a lucrative new five-year deal to him, understood to be worth around £55,000 per week, while Juventus were also reported to be tracking him. But he choose to come to Milan, playing alongside World Player Of the Year, Kaka and fighting for a place with the best Italian midfielders, namely Gattuso, Ambrosini and Pirlo.
Flamini expressed his joy at the move after finalising terms with Milan
'I am extremely happy. Thanks a million,' he said.
Hopefully with the reputation of the Serie A improve, there will be more Stars at his peak heading to the Serie A, and not go there to look at retirement.

Milan into 4th place; Title race reopen!
Milan put in a dominant performance in one of the most important game of the season, beating Inter 2-1 in the Milan derby Sunday to blow open the title race with second-placed AS Roma winning 3-0 at Sampdoria. Inter's lead is now down to three points with two games remaining, but nonetheless, everything is still in Inter's hand, with a victory at next weekend's home match against Siena enough to seal the title for the 2nd straight years.
As Inter's coach said, 'In the first half they were better. Then there were two goals and we started to play. I have always thought that the (scudetto) celebrations would come against Siena and not Milan'
Roma coach Luca Spalletti shared the sentiment, said 'We must be realistic. Inter have had a good season and have all the cards for winning.'
Filippo Inzaghi and Kaka scored early in the second half for Milan, while rivals Fiorentina lost 2-1 at Cagliari.
Milan are now fourth with 61 points and Fiorentina 60, with Udinese moving up to sixth on 57 and Samp dropping to seventh on 56.
Barry leaving Villa?
Every Villa fans know that Gareth Barry has always been a great player, whether playing at left back or left midfield. So recently when he came to prominence in the England squad, many fans are not surprise, but instead feel that justice has finally been done.
Until now, he has been overlooked by the National team. The reasons for that, many wouldn't disagree are that, he is not playing for the top 4 club in England, and his position wouldn't allow him the to create the sensation and publicity a striker would have by scoring goals.
Now he finally come into the limelight, and created interests among the bigger clubs. The reason is that, left-footed central midfielders are a rarity, especially those with his passing range. Players of his consistency can exert a quiet influence over the vast majority of their games. Leadership and set-piece expertise both help account for Villa's progress this season.
Barry's friendship with Steven Gerrard is cited as a reason to exchange Aston Villa for Anfield. And there is no doubt that the Rafa admires gifted technicians with a sense of tactical discipline, and this is proven when Rafa made an offer for Barry. The offer involve only player exchange, with Peter Crouch (one of Villa's target), John Arne Riise and Scott Carson going to the other side.
Martin O'Neill certainly are not happy with the offer, and stressed that Villa want to challenge, not "feed" bigger club with their best stars. But Barry's will is certainly the main factor here. Barry would like to play in the prestigious Champions League and challenging for the Barclays Premier League title, which Villa don't seem able to offer in the near future.
But a move to Liverpool is not without risk. There are so many options available for Rafa that, Barry might not be able to play as much as he would like. Besides, they still don't seem to have the material to be BPL champions, lagging so far behind Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal. So a move to Liverpool doesn't guarantee success in the league. The only certainty is that Barry will be able to play some Champions League game, provided Rafa choose to play him.

Shevchenko On Chelsea and Milan Derby
Chelsea made it to the final, breaking the jinx of Liverpool after beating them 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. Though not playing a big part as in Milan, Shevchenko made it to the final for the 3rd time in 5 years. His penalty brought Milan their 6th European Champions title in 2003
Today, he is no longer the talisman, but remain a model professional for Chelsea, playing as well as he can when called upon. He remains coy about a return to Milan after this season, but admits he still holds the Rossoneri dear to his heart. Milan president & Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi has frequently said he would welcome Shevchenko back.
But he, as professional as ever, remain committed to his current team.
``There is a lot of talk about my return,'' Shevchenko said in a television interview published in Corriere dello Sport. ``But I am not authorised to say anything more than this: that my links to Milan have always been great."
``Milan gave me a lot, they helped me grow as a player and they helped me win the European Footballer of the Year award and the Champions League.
``I have great memories. Relationships with my team-mates are very important and many of them have remained."
``The president has always been very kind to me, he suggested to me to take a house in Antigua, I listened to him and I made a great investment."
``I thank him for everything he has done for me, he is very close to my heart. He helped me a lot, in many things."
``I miss my friends in Italy, the true ones, and the food, a lot.''
Though considered a flop by many, his record of 20 goals in 68 appearances for Chelsea is still respectable.
``I haven't managed to play much this year,'' continued Shevchenko. ``Whether for physical problems or technical reasons.
``But in the game I have played in I managed to make a small contribution with seven goals.
``The language? I manage to communicate, I manage to speak to my team-mates, but I am very far from perfection.''
When asked about the Milan derby, Shevchenko has this to say.
``The derby has always been a special game, a great one,'' continued Shevchenko. ``I think this derby will mean more to Milan because they are fighting for fourth place, to play in the Champions League and, above all, it's their home game.
``I have told all my friends in England that, to understand Italian football, you have to go to the Milan derby because it's a spectacular game.
``I give my best wishes to my former team-mates. I know how important it is to win the derby, especially in the race for fourth place.
``I think that the more important games give me a larger rush: the more the game is important the more I manage to give.
``The most important goal I scored in a derby was that in the Champions League semi-final.''

All English Champions League: Who will face Man Utd in the final?
It was a moment of greatness! Paul Scholes goal came at a time when Barca was firing all cylinder attacking the Man Utd defence, and suddenly the goal came. Congrats to Man Utd fans. They are in the final again after 10 years, and 10 years ago it was a hell of a final when they score 2 in the final minutes and win the cup. That was also a the turning point of English football. Before that English football are deemed "low class" after a ban on English teams playing in European Competition.
10 years on, they are on top of Europe, with an all English final. Today's game in Stamford Bridge is really an even game. Though Chelsea is at home, they should know Liverpool has the ability to score against them. Liverpool has the match winners in Stevie G and Torres. Liverpool has luck (based on previous Champions League performance), and Liverpool has support all around the world. They have been unlucky to draw at Anfield, and if they really want to prove a point that "they are Champions League team" to Chelsea, they gotto do it tonight at Stamford Bridge. By the way, they really have nothing more to look forward to, while Chelsea can still think of winning the league.
But facing Chelsea today is the worst timing of all. Chelsea now is brimming with confidence after beating Man Utd (though not full strength), and they will certainly want to "repay" Liverpool for knocking them out last season and in 2005. A goal for Liverpool against Chelsea may well lead to Avram Grant setting his troops all gun blazing like on Saturday. That would be an interesting spectacle to watch!.

A determined Chelsea wins the night!
Chelsea's game against Man Utd on 26th April 2008, is one of the most exciting matches seen in recent time. The final scoreline, Chelsea beat Man Utd 2-1, and are now behind Man Utd only on goal difference. The prospective outcome of the Barclays Premier League really look tantalizing, but when I say exciting match, I only mean this game, which itself is fascinating enough.
1st of all, Lampard will not be playing as his mother passed away from pneumonia on Thursday. Chelsea, is determined to win this game for Lampard and his family.
Then comes the starting line-up. I wouldn't say Man Utd had field a weak team (because they have no weak team, and also they almost hold Chelsea for a draw), but a weakened team (a team without Cristiano Ronaldo, Patrice Evra, Carlos Tevez). I believe any title contender will feel offended by a weakened Man Utd team, and will be determined to beat them outright.
So Chelsea came out attacking, with Joe Cole leading the assault. On the 20th minute, he got clear of the United defence, but after initially losing the ball, he lashed the ball against the crossbar from just inside the penalty area.
Chelsea continued to press for an opening goal and were unlucky when Joe Cole dribbled his way into the penalty area, only for Van der Sar to grab the ball at his feet. The United keeper required treatment for a minor knock as a result of the collision.
The 1st half belongs to Chelsea, as Rooney , who operate as a lone striker is clearly not effective and do not have enough support from his team mates. Terry & Co had a comfortable 1st half. Just when Fergie thought his team can go in to the dressing room nil-nil, Chelsea took the lead in the 45th minute when Drogba's cross was headed home at the far post by the unmarked Ballack.
The goal sparked emotional scenes as all the Chelsea players held up Frank Lampard's number eight shirt with the message 'Pat Lampard - R.I.P'. Ballack who had taken his shirt off, was then booked by Wiley.
United started the 2nd half stronger (perhaps as a result of receiving hair-dryer treatment from Fergie), but were still struggling to create anything to threatened Terry & Co. But Man Utd got themselves back into the game thanks to a mistake by Chelsea defender Carvalho.
The Portuguese defender passed the ball straight to Rooney, who accepted the gift by firing beyond Cech into the net. He looked to had injured himself from the goal, and he was replaced by Ronaldo on the 63th minute.
The beginning of Chelsea's attacking foray
These days, manager often play a cautious game, so it become rare that the manager will throw in all their strikers into the game even when the team is losing. But that's exactly what Avram Grant did.
On the 65th minute, Anderson was substituted for John O'Shea and Chelsea, sensing that Man Utd might want to slow down the pace and play safe, replaced Paolo Ferreira with Nicolas Anelka.
But when Anelka also don't seem to threatened Man Utd's goalmouth, Grant throw in his final striker: Andriy Shevchenko for Kalou on the 81st minute. With so many attacking player in Chelsea's side now, Man Utd drop back and defend in numbers.
Then the defining moment. Referee Alan Wiley awarded the spot-kick after Michael Carrick handled a cross from Michael Essien. Carrick got his arm in the way of Essien's cross and Ballack kept his cool to score from the spot and keep the title race on the boil.
But what is unexpected of Shevchenko's contribution is defending. In the dying minutes United were twice thwarted by goalline clearances - Ronaldo's left-foot drive being hacked away by Ashley Cole, before substitute Andriy Shevchenko nodded clear Darren Fletcher's diving header following a goalmouth scramble. After the clear Shevchenko received a appreciative smile from Cole, and Shevchenko replied with a smile of a goalscorer (back in those days when he is in Milan).
As the whistle blows, Chelsea finish the game as winner, and perhaps, Vidic's injury may had impacted the result. Nemanja Vidic was carried off on a stretcher with a facial injury after being caught by Didier Drogba's knee as he stooped to head the ball clear. Let's hope he is fine.

Unfair advantage?
So here we go again. This is the time of the year again when manager complain about fixture arrangement. And this time, Man Utd manager said "it's unfair".
'The fixture is not fair in terms of the timing between the two games,' Ferguson told reporters.
The situation now is, Man Utd will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a lunchtime kickoff on Saturday. With a United win,the title will head to Old Trafford for the second year running.
But if Chelsea win, they will keep their title hopes alive.
'The Liverpool fixture with Chelsea was Tuesday followed by Wednesday, so there is four days either way to get themselves ready which is a big advantage, there is no question about that.
'Unfortunately, we have 60 hours to prepare for this game. All we can do is rest them.'
The fixture is suppose to be fixed before the start of the season, so why the complain of unfair now? If Man Utd don't progress to the latter stages of the Champions League, will Fergie complain?
So the solution for Man Utd is, do not progress further to the latter stages of the Champions League if you want advantage in the BPL. By then you will have one week to prepare for the game, while Chelsea will only have 3-4 days. ;)

Nothing spectacular really..maybe except the goals
The performance by the England's midfield duo are anything but spectacular, particularly Lampard, who was totally out of sort, but luckily with the Riise goal, we can expect a really exciting and entertaining 2nd leg in Stamford Bridge.
While Lampard was pathetic, Steven Gerrard played a decent game, but should had involve more in the attack in the 2nd half. Whenever he involved, he did strike some fear on the Chelsea defense.
Overall it was a game Liverpool deserved to win. At lease they had a go at Chelsea, played some nice passing, and generated some great moves. Chelsea, on the other hand, can't even string a few passes together. They hardly in control of the ball, and when they had possession of the ball, gave it away without creating any decent moves. Disappointing performance after so long didn't see them play.

England's Best Midfield Duo
Sorry to say but when Euro 2008 comes this June, we are missing 2 of the best English midfielder around. We will be missing the typical English style: explosive, strong, have a will of iron and a great fighter. And here is 2 of the best to be display in tonight's Champions League tie: Liverpool vs Chelsea.
And if you still don't know who I'm talking about, I guess you are new to football. Ok, here comes Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
Chelsea's Frank Lampard has made himself available for the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool after spending the last week at his sick mother's bedside.
'Frank would like to acknowledge the consideration shown to him by Chelsea FC and the media during this time of immense strain for himself and his family.'
Chelsea boss Avram Grant has been understanding throughout and told the midfielder to take time away from training.
'I tell the players all the time that football is very important but sometimes there are things that need to be taken care of.
Lampard's absence from training may swing to Chelsea's adavantage, as a fresh Lampard is certainly capable of changing the course of the game. With fellow midfielder Michael Ballack still a doubt for the match, Lampard's availability could see Grant put him straight back into the starting XI on Merseyside.
On the other side of the stadium, Stevie G is certainly the talisman for Liverpool. So when he is declared fit to lead Liverpool in their Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Chelsea, Liverpool fans are understandably optimistic. Steven G had saved Liverpool countless times when the going gets tough. The skipper trained at Melwood yesterday, and afterwards manager Rafael Benitez confirmed that Stevie G had recovered from the neck injury which ruled him out of Saturday's Premier League win at Fulham.
So, let's look forward to these 3-Lion brave hearts in Europe most prestigious club competition!

Ronaldinho will not be coming to Milan after all?
Ronaldinho's proposed transfer to AC Milan has stalled after the Serie A side failed to agree a fee with Barcelona.
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani admitted preliminary discussions had not been successful.
'Yesterday we had a conference call but the figures have not been right,' Galliani told Sky Italia after Milan's 5-1 win over Reggina.
'Maybe Ronaldinho won't come.'
I think the Milan board owe the fans a world class striker after selling Shevchenko. This season they really have problem scoring goals, relying heavily on Kaka and "Superpippo" Inzaghi. Though Pato's performance has been satisfying, he is one for the future. The current lists of forward really do not strike any fear on any team, except for Inzaghi. Gilardino has been off form for quite some time, and Milan certainly need some replacement to the ageing Inzaghi.
Robert De Assis, Ronaldinho's brother and agent, has agreed personal terms with the Milan club but there is competition from city rivals Inter and Barclays Premier League outfit Manchester City.
Even if the Ronaldinho's proposed transfer fail, the Milan board must show support to the coach Ancelotti and spend money to rebuild the team. Milan need reinforcement in practically all position except Midfield.

Why Man Utd deserve to be Champions in 2007/2008 season
After last Sunday's win over Arsenal, and Chelsea's inability to beat Wigan on Monday, it is clear that Man Utd will be crown champion of 2007/2008, barring any unforeseen situation that may happened over the course of the last 4 league games. Mathematically, both Chelsea and Arsenal are still in the race (very very unlikely for Arsenal though), but everyone is pretty sure Man Utd will be the champions, looking at the performance of the team over the course of the season, the exploit of Cristiano Ronaldo and Owen Hargreaves magnificent free kick, one can just feel they are the champions-elect.
Ok, so now we leave the feeling away and evaluate why they deserve to win this season. Simple said, there are 2 reasons. Yes, certainly there can be more if you would like, but fundamentally, just two.
1) Strong squad
They have a strong squad that is second to none in the league, with each position well covered just in-case of any serious injury. The only area where there might be a concern is the striking department, where they only have 3 strikers in Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. Injuries and suspensions can really racked their season, but for this season, with Ronaldo scoring 28 goals [equals to the combined total of goals scored by Rooney (11), Tevez(12) and Saha(5)] in the league, problem in the striking area is simply non-existence. But surely, Fergie will need to look at strengthen the striking department next season.
2) Inability of the COntenders
While Man Utd may not be leading the league comfortably, but if not for the failure of the contenders to sustain or keep up the challenge, Man Utd will not be top the league now. Some of the culprits are:
Liverpool
The most disappointing contender of the three. Started the season in renowned hope and confidence with Fernando Torres, they lost their way, indulge in boardroom fighting, and now no where near the top of the league (actually can be disqualified as contender). Their failure is self-inflicting, and this is disappointment to their fans. Besides, Rafael Benitez should start reviewing his tactics.
Chelsea
A bad start to the season and a change of manager lead many to write them off as contenders, but with 4 league games remaining, here we are, they are the closest to the champions-elect. Avram Grant had certainly work his way up quietly, but failed at vital moments when they failed to beat Wigan on Monday to stop Man Utd opening a bigger gap. But everything is not lost, and if they keep up their work, they may still have the last laugh.
Arsenal
Exciting, interesting young team who eventually fall after a great first half of the season, they can only look forward to the future after being knocked out of the Champion's League by Liverpool. But they can really look forward to the next season optimistically, as if the current squad is maintained with a few more addition, they will certainly be feared across Europe in the coming season.

Super Sunday: Man Utd vs Arsenal
After a tantalizing fixture between Juve and Milan last night, tonight comes the battle royal of Barclays Premier League: Man U vs Arsenal.
The situation:
United is top in the league, six points above Arsenal on 3rd position, with five games remaining.
Wenger's Prematch Comment Highlights:
'It will be the greatest achievement of my career to win the Premier League now because we are swimming against the stream at the moment, but I still believe this team can produce it. For us the game on Sunday is the game of the season. If we do not win this game we have no chance. I can't understand people who say the team's season is over. Why is it over? We are not too far behind. If we go there and don't believe in ourselves then it is over. We have worked so hard since the first day of the season and we will fight until the last second of the championship.'
The Gunners recent meltdown has failed to convince Wenger he must embark on a summer spending spree.
'We will continue to do what we've done. I will buy but not too much in the summer. My priority is to keep this team together because we are still young, especially in some departments. If we can add one more body we will do so, not one in each department - just one experienced guy.'
Ferguson's Prematch Comment Highlights:
'You do not win games consistently without your best team. If you do not have your best players, it is hard to get good results. We have suffered like this in the past because of injuries, as have all sides. It is a tough league and somewhere along the along you drop points when you do not expect it. We lost six to Manchester City, which we did not envisage, and got beaten by Bolton.'
The timely return
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will face Arsenal despite needing three stitches in his foot in midweek. Ferdinand suffered the injury in the victory against Roma in the Champions League at Old Trafford.
Patrice Evra could return at left-back after missing the European game with a knock.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are expected to be restored to the side after being on the bench against Roma.
Robin van Persie could start after coming on as a substitute against Liverpool.
Absentee:
Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini will miss the game after being ruled out for three weeks with an ankle problem and will be replaced in the starting line-up by Gilberto.
Defender Bacary Sagna remains on the sidelines with his ankle problem

Recap of Sat's Match of the Day: Juve vs Milan
Last night's game ended with a 3-2 win to Juve against 10-men Milan, after Daniele Bonera was sent off for a tackle that, according to the rules should be a sending off, but in reality, can been given more consideration as a tackle that happened at the heat of the moment. Anyway, the referee made his decision, and that change the course of the game. At that time the score was 2-2. Eventually Hassan Salihamidzic sealed the win for Juve. Milan were weak at aerial in front of the goal, clearly feeling the absence of Nesta and Kaladze, and Salihamidzic, who is unmarked in a confused Milan defence, nodded home for the winner.
Juve quickly exploited a second string defence and opened the scoring when Mauro Camoranesi hurdled a tackle and played in Alessandro Del Piero, who netted his 14th league goal of the campaign from a tight angle on 12 minutes.
The Duel
Ex-Juve striker Filippo Inzaghi, who played with Del Piero for a couple of seasons during his time with Juve, soon levelled with a trademark poacher's goal from Kaka's cross from the left. Inzaghi then showed he's still one of the best striker around with a second goal on the half hour mark, when he sidefooted in after Daniele Bonera had squared the ball following Massimo Ambrosini's clever chip.
Juve made it 2-2 just before the break when Paolo Maldini gave the ball away and Camoranesi crossed for David Trezeguet, whose header was brilliantly blocked by keeper Zeljko Kalac only for winger Salihamidizic to score.
The second half become a little cagey as both coach wanted to avoid conceding again, before Milan defender Bonera slipped and planted his studs on Mohamed Sissoko's shin and received a straight red card.
Camoranesi then made sure he set up all three Juve goals when his free kick was nodded in unmarked by Salihamidzic.
Post Match Comment:
'This has complicated the situation of course. We will try (to reach a Champions League spot) just like we have tonight,' said Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti.
'We have been able to play the match we wanted. 3-2, it's been a really great game,' Juve coach Ranieri said.

Juventus vs AC Milan: The clash of titan
Juventus vs Milan. Round 73. 33rd matchday of Serie A.
AC Milan must win. This is the only choice for them to qualify for next year's Champion's League. Milan is still chasing Fiorentina for the 4th place. Fiorentina progression in UEFA Cup may well be an advantage for Milan, as the fixtures get more pack, Fiorentina will slip up and give Milan the 4th place. Currently Milan are 3 points behind Fiorentina. If a draw between the 2 sides, which is highly likely as well, then Milan will close in on Fiorentina, provided they stumble against league leaders Inter.
Here is the list of the 20 players called up by Carlo Ancelotti for the away game in Turin, and the ones who are unavailable.
Goalkeeper: Dida, Fiori, Kalac
Defender: Bonera, Cafu, Digao, Favalli, Maldini, Serginho, Simic
Midfielder: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Gattuso, Gourcuff, Kakà, Pirlo, Seedorf
Forward: Gilardino, Inzaghi, Paloschi
Suspended: Nesta, Kaladze
Unavailable: Jankulovski, Oddo, Emerson, Pato, Ronaldo
Juve's coach Claudio Ranieri had said that "It will be a very nice game, Milan made more points away from home. They have many champions who will fight, but even we are fine, therefore it will be a very nice game. I don't want a point less than what is in our possibilities. It's a very important week and a win would represent a huge advantage for us to enter Europe."
And this could be Paolo Maldini's last match against Juve, and Juve midfielder Mauro German Camoranesi during a press conference ahead of the match against Milan said: "If we beat Milan, it will be very difficult for them to recover and the Champions League race could be over. Milan remain a very competitive team, they have players who can resolve the team at any moment. Also, Kaká has returned and he can make the difference. I hope it's not the last time I play against Maldini, he's an example and must continue playing."
So let us look on to this historic rivalry.

Ronaldinho to Milan?..
What a way to start my 1st post! Ronaldinho going to Milan! But not yet a done deal though. Well Ronaldinho has agreed initial terms with AC Milan, and Milan will now speak to Barcelona about a deal.
Ronaldinho has had a difficult time at the Nou Camp this season because of injury and more significantly, loss of form. A move has long been mooted, with him link to also to Chelsea. Currently he is out for the rest of the campaign with a leg injury and a transfer can not officially go through until the end of the season.
'In general Ronaldinho and Milan are in agreement,' his agent and brother Roberto de Assis was quoted as saying.Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said: 'There is a general agreement with the player. Now a deal has to be reached with Barcelona. Give us time.'
According to newspaper Gazzetta, Milan will offer a deal up to 2012 worth eight million euros ($12.6 million) a year, with a few clauses yet to be agreed. Media has also speculated about a transfer fee of between 20 and 30 million euros while some newspapers have talked about Ronaldinho buying up the rest of his contract at Barca.
This news has been a great boost to Milan, which may solve their goalscoring problem this season, and also to Serie A. It has been quite some time since a real star player move to Italy, though again not a star at his best. The situation is similar to Ronaldo when he move from Real, but certainly Ronaldinho is at a better condition than Ronaldo when he moved. Despite Ronaldinho not having the form of his life, he can still contribute positively to Milan, just like Ronaldo did during his 1st 6 months in Milan. And with him around Milan fans can dream of big things again, probably the Scudetto, and a good run in European competition.
Besides, Ancelotti has been assured of his job next term, which may contribute to Ronaldinho to move to Milan, even at the expense of buying up the rest of his contract with Barcelona. In recent years, Milan has created a positive image of stability and humility, which appeals to players with undoubted class, but who had not been doing so well.
Forza Milan!..
